Fiscal Cliff Update: The Senate has passed a bi-partisan agreement and it is now awaiting a vote in the House of Representatives. The bill includes a renewal of Bush era tax cuts for Americans making less than $400,000, and an extension for 2 million Americans on unemployment insurance, however it puts off discussion on the debt ceiling and the sequester for two months. As many of your know, several states have recently enacted VoterID laws that could prevent American citizens who have not previously obtained state issued ID’s from voting. While these laws will potentially affect numerous classes of people, including the poor, certain minority groups, and the elderly, they could also potentially prevent thousands of young Americans who have not yet obtained driver’s licenses or state issued ID’s from being able to take part in the 2012 election.
