THE FACTS

Less than a quarter (21 percent) of our youngest citizens — ages 18 to 24 — voted in 2010.

WHY WE SHOULD CARE

Politicians pay attention to issues voters are interested in. Since our generation is less likely to vote, our issues get less attention.

OUR TIME OPINION
If more of us vote, we decrease the power that special interest dollars play in elections and give politicians an incentive to get behind policies that invest in our country’s future – such as access to affordable education, employment opportunities for recent grads, cutting tax loopholes for big businesses and providing resources to young entrepreneurs! See? It pays to vote!
