THE BIRTH CONTROL ISSUE

THE BIRTH CONTROL ISSUE

The Facts

Religious employers are upset that President Obama’s health care bill requires
them to provide birth control to their employees.

They feel that this is an attack on their religious freedom, as many religions do not
believe in contraception.

In order to accommodate the religious employers, President Obama recently
shifted coverage responsibility to insurance companies to incur costs directly.

Religious employers call this a “loophole” and still remain upset.

Why We Care

Young women spend approximately $50 dollars per month on birth control. In
light of high joblessness, massive debt from student loans, in addition to credit
card debt, and paying the rent, birth control only digs young women in a deeper
financial hole.
